Graveside services for Yvonna Fern Workman, 87, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Yvonna Fern (Brashears) Workman was born January 9, 1930 in Alex, Oklahoma, the daughter of Troy R. G. Brashears and Hazle Lee (Foster) Brashears. She died on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Yvonna attended Alex schools and played basketball and softball, graduating in 1948. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 5 years.
On September 15, 1953, she married Jerry Leroy Workman in Alex, Oklahoma. They had two sons, Jerry Leroy, Jr. and Robert and were married 48 years when Jerry Sr. passed away in 2001.
Yvonna was a homemaker, raising her sons and helping them through their school years. She was Christian and was baptized in the Baptist church in 1942. In 1954, the family moved to Oklahoma City where she had also worked at Kenny Skaggs Tag Agency in Capitol Hill.
She and Jerry enjoyed traveling together, living in New York, Missouri, Texas, and Kansas. In 1989, Jerry retired and they moved to Lake Texoma, where she was a member of the Texoma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping others and volunteered at Grady Memorial Hospital and also was a member of the Busy Hands quilting group.
Yvonna was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, and brother, Roland Brashears.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Leroy Workman, Jr. and wife, Mary Beth, of Tuttle, and Robert Gene Workman and wife, Cheryl, of Mustang; grandchildren, Chad Workman, Lindsay and Tyler Green, and Karin and David Owens; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Augustus Green, Ashleigh, Abigail, and Jake Owens; brother and sister-in-law, Belford and Kay Brashears; sister-in-law, Ramona Jo Brashears; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Workman family; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
