Worley Donovan Alexander was born at his grandparent’s home in Buena Park California on Dec 8, 1930 to William & Dorothy (Worley) Alexander. Later a brother, James, was born and they were both raised by their mother & grandparents until he was 13, at which time his mom married Gilbert Kellum. Don died Friday, July 11, 2014 in Oklahoma City.

Don always felt whatever the job was, do it to the best of your ability.

Don’s children; Twin daughters Sharon (Corson) of Huntington Beach CA & Sheila (Robinson) of Santa Rosa CA, son Brian Alexander of Tustin CA, daughter Shelley of Thousand Oaks CA & son Scott Alexander of Chickasha OK.

Don first started working as a bellhop in 1944. He graduated high school and enrolled in Orange Coast Jr College, then the University of Southern California with a pre-med major and then enrolled in the United States Air Force in 1951.

Don had his basic training at San Antonio Texas – Lackland Air Force Base, then as a non-commissioned officer learned how to supervise people and how to run a dental clinic at US Naval Training Center Dental Tech School in Great Lakes Illinois. He then served as a Dental Tech to NCOIC at March Air Force Base in Riverside California. In February of 1955 Don was honorable discharged from the U.S. Air Force with a rank of S/Sgt.

After returning to civilian life he enrolled at Long Beach College with a major of pre-dental, and then later changed to accounting. While there he worked and became an original founding charter member of Phi Kappa Tau, later graduated in 1958 with a BS in accounting.

Worked as an accountant, wrote computer programs and worked as a controller until 1990 when he retired for medical reasons. After that he ran a small business and other part time jobs.

In 1987 Don joined the Elks Lodge and after 1990 became very active in all aspects and events of the Elks such as Chief executive officer 92-93, NE Dist. Gov. Rel. Chairman 93-98, State Vice President of the NE Dist. Of California-Hawaii Elks 96-97, Grand Exalted Ruler 98-99, publisher/editor of the NE Elks Journal, secretary of Lodge 1766 and is currently only a member at lodge #2125 in Chickasha.

In 1988 Don was an original founding charter member of the Alturas American Legion Post 163.

Private memorial services will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kim Hayes officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
