William “Tex” David Elliott

d. July 2, 2019

Memorial services for William “Tex” David Elliott, 74, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Talley officiating and Ezell Nelson assisting.

William “Tex” David Elliott, known to some as Pappy, was born October 9, 1944 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to William Otto Elliott, Sr. and Lorraine (Shaw) Elliott. He passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Tex grew up in Chickasha before moving to Altus where his family started an oil company. He graduated from Altus High School in 1962 then attended Southwestern University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in business.

On September 15, 1968, he married Jeanne Robertson in Clinton, Oklahoma. They were married for 34 years, until her passing in 2002.

Tex served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971. When he came back from the military, he and his brother owned and operated the family oil company in Altus for 40 years. In 1997, they retired and Tex moved back to the home he grew up in here in Chickasha.

He could tell you any information about a song or about the make and model of a classic car. He collected classic cars and antique clocks. Tex, better known at this time of his life as Pappy, was a huge OU fan! You never saw him without his Phi Delta Theta hat and he liked to wear his sunglasses.

Pappy loved having his grandsons over to watch Laurel & Hardy or The Price is Right. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Jeanne, and his brother Ott Elliott.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Chris Jarvis of Chickasha; grandsons Hesston and Parker Jarvis; sister-in-law Mary Beamguard and her husband Larry; special friends Phil Marcha, Jim Filbeck, Dino Vassella and Joe Conrad; and extended family and friends.

A special thank you to his excellent caregiver, Jeannie Frenchman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chickasha Public School Foundation, c/o Jen Jantzen, 1301 S. 7th Street, Chickasha, OK 73018.

Cremation arrangements and interment of the cremains in Rose Hill Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
