Graveside memorial services for William Ray Byrum, 69, of Chickasha, will be held by the family at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma with Barbara Turner officiating.
William Ray Byrum, known as Billy, was born October 2, 1952 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Max and Evelyn (Weyant) Byrum. He passed from this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Billy grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. He entered the United States Army, serving in the military for six years.
On September 28, 1973 he married Dorthy Jean Largent and they shared almost 49 years together.
Over the years, he worked many various jobs, working in the oilfield, Gabriel Manufacturing and Walmart. He later retired. He enjoyed spending time with his girls and grandchildren. He liked camping, fishing and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Robert Byrum and son-in-law Kevin Meeks.
Survivors include his wife Dorthy Byrum of the home; daughter Tammy Jordan and husband Devaugh of Lawton and daughter Shannon Meeks and grandson Lane Meeks of Chickasha; grandchildren and their spouses Jessica and Jerry Vallejo, Shaelyn (Sebastian) and Brandy Meeks, Brittany and Korbin Wilson; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Jayne and Ross Largent of Chickasha; and other extended family and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
