Funeral services for William Derrill Turley, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 at Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha with Gary Layman and Justin Avery officiating.
Derrill Turley passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 10, 1931 south of Anadarko to William P. and Thelma (Savage) Turley. He married Mary Ann Ransbarger in Chickasha on March 25, 1955.
Derrill served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and worked 38 years for Transok, retiring in 1990 as District Superintendent.
He was one of the founders of Parkview Christian Church. One of his greatest joys was helping with the construction and building of Parkview Christian Church. He later helped establish the New Life Christian Church. He served as an elder and deacon in both churches.
He and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling in their motor home and he was an honorary member of the Sooner Schooners and Okiebagos.
He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Scott Turley; nephew, Loren Turely and brother-in-law, Carl Steverson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann and daughter, Dee Ann Turner and her husband Darrin, of Edmond; granddaughters, Tiffany Asta and her husband, Phil, of Los Angeles; Tara Roberts of Oklahoma City; and Kaytlen Pomeroy of Buena Park, California; brother, Mack Turley and his wife, Sherry, of Abilene, Texas; and sisters, Theda Steverson of Anadarko and Mona Warren and her husband, Ancil, of Edmond. Several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association at www.lung.org or Alzheimer’s www.alz.org/donate .
Family visitation will be Friday, January 27 th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home.
