A graveside memorial service for Wanda “Nadine” Morris, 90, of Ninnekah, will be held by the family at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Ninnekah Cemetery with Pastor Curtis Townley officiating.
Wanda Nadine (Tyree) Morris was born October 24, 1933 in Grady County, Oklahoma to J.T. Tyree and Willie Beatrice (Venable) Tyree. She passed from this life on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.
She attended Friend School in Grady County.
On September 30, 1950, she married James “Kenneth” Morris and they had their first son Kenneth Daniel Morris August 28, 1952 in Ft. Polk, Louisiana and their second son James Keith Morris March 16, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kenneth passed away in September 1998. She later married her high school sweetheart Paul Dean Jennings on August 25, 2004.
She worked at the Grady County Courthouse in several different positions. She worked at Owl Tree Day Care, where she raised half of Ninnekah. She and Kenneth taught Sunday school for years at Ninnekah First Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member. She also had a home day care for many years. She had also worked for the Chickasha Daily Express delivering papers to Ninnekah, Cement, Rush Springs and Alex areas.
Once she retired, she loved spending time with her family. While Nadine wasn’t a veteran herself, she should have been, her husband, both sons, four grandsons and one granddaughter served in various branches of the U.S. Military. All safely returned home under her PRAYERS. She spent her life caring for others. She took care of both her parents in their last days, one brother, Sammie, both husbands, and both sons. When any of her grandchildren needed caring for, she dropped everything to assist. She knew her God’s work was giving, sharing and providing love to everyone.
Nadine was preceded in death by both parents, both husbands, two sons, five brothers, one sister, three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, one daughter-in-law and one great-grandchild.
Loved ones left to remember her are daughter-in-law Peggy Morris of Ninnekah; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph and Krystal Morris of Ninnekah, Ty and Lee Ann Morris of Ninnekah, Chris and Mia Morris of Ninnekah, Tasha and Kevin Thornburg of Pocasset, Cody and Tiffany James of Ninnekah, Shawn Morris of Ninnekah, Jeremy James of Chickasha, Chantry and Trisha Morris of Norman, Michael Morris of California; 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.
