A funeral service for Wanda Jean Tannehill, 83, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Bailey officiating.

Wanda Jean (Pate) Tannehill was born October 5, 1940 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Fred David Pate and Neoma Jaquelyn (Woodward) Pate. She passed from this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Wanda grew up in Chickasha. She helped her mother operate a private nursing home.

On September 1, 1956, she married Homer Lee and to this union her two children, Doug and Sherri, were born.

Over the years, she worked at Chickasha Mattress Factory, Hermetic Switch for 13 years and then Baggett’s Machine Shop, where she retired.

On December 2, 1977, she married Joey Olanthous Tannehill and they shared 46 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling to see the sights and to visit children and grandchildren.

Wanda liked to crochet and loved to eat sweets. She was super organized. She never wanted others to worry about her and she was always there to help. She was always kind and gracious and never spoke a negative word. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply. Wanda really missed her siblings after they passed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Carmie Freeman, J.B. Pate, Millie “Geneva” Pate Wood, Billy Joe Pate, Naomi “Virginia” Lee Pate Rice.

Loved ones left to remember her are her husband Joey Tannehill; son Douglas Wayne Lee and wife Deborah of Crossville, Tennessee; daughter Sherri Janelle Oxner of Chalmette, Louisiana; grandchildren and their spouses Hannah and Dan DelRossi, Timothy and Kim Lee, Joseph and Valerie Lee, Elizabeth and Garan Williams, Benjamin Lee, Mary Lee, Benji Lee, Farrell Oxner and Shelby Oxner; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and other extended family and friends.

There will be no viewing and Wanda’s choice was cremation following the service. Interment of cremains will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
