Graveside services for Virginia Ann Poag, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Ninnekah Cemetery with Pastor Gary Rogers officiating.
Virginia was the sixth of eight children born October 8, 1932 to Zennie L. Williams, Sr. and Emily R. (Smith) Williams. She went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Ninnekah and went to Ninnekah Schools. She was a guard for the basketball team and in the Glee Music Club.
Virginia loved to sing Christian songs about her Lord and Savior and talk about His great love and care for her and her children. She was a devoted Christian from the time she accepted the Lord at the age of eight. She made sure that her sons served the Lord with all their strength, mind, and soul and to have faith in the Lord in every situation.
She also instilled in her son, Randell, to use his musical ability and his voice for the love of God and only for Him and His glory. Virginia walked with the Lord for many years and the Lord spoke to her one day and said, “we walked together for many miles and we are closer to my Home than we are to yours,” so on she went to be home with the Lord.
Virginia was preceded in death by both her parents; grandson, Christopher “Chris” Poag; three brothers, Charles, Zennie Jr., and Wayne; three sisters, Ruby, Florene, and Selma; and one special sister-in-law, Carolyn Williams.
She is survived by her three sons, Randell Poag of Chickasha, Gaylon Poag and wife, Debi of Charlestown, Indiana, and Gregory Poag of Chickasha; one brother, Elroy Williams; three grandchildren, Shawn, Jennifer, and Angelia; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Colin, and Anaika; four nieces, Lesa Schaffer, Debbie Williams, Mary Beth McCutcheon, and Kelley Williams; two nephews, Jerry Wright and wife, Patricia, and Jimmie Williams; two special friends, Glenda Penell and Lynda Ryans; and one son by spiritual adoption, Tony Robnett; and other extended family and friends.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
