Funeral services for Victor Lee Wasson, 99, of Chickasha will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Kerr officiating.
Victor Lee Wasson was born November 15, 1918 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Roy Cecil Wasson and Jessie (Norman) Wasson. He graduated from Verden High School in 1936, where he earned awards in wrestling and basketball.
In July 1941, Victor joined United States Army Corp of Engineers. He participated in the Normandy invasion in June 1944. His unit spearheaded Patton’s Third Army by building bridges across rivers in France and Germany in advance of the army.
Returning from the war, Victor married Oddest Hall in 1945. They were married for 33 years before Oddest went to be with the Lord. Victor then began a 33-year career with Schlumberger, retiring in 1982.
In 1981, Victor married Dorothy Dale and they were married for 30 years before she also went to be with the Lord. They lived in Chickasha and enjoyed time at their lake home in Eufaula, where the family has fond memories of fishing and using the golf cart.
Victor, known to his family as “Pa Vic” had an incredible wit and sense of humor. He was blessed with a sharp mind and great wisdom. He loved to share stories of his experiences in the War and in the oilfield. His hobbies were fishing, working in his yard, and playing dominos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Oddest and Dorothy; sister, Helen Hefner; step-daughter, Shirley Anne Graves and step son-in-law, Jerry Richardson.
Victor is survived by his step-daughter, Beverly Richardson of Guthrie; step son-in-law, W.A. “Bill” Graves of Chickasha; nieces, Charlotte Lee (Hefner) Ferguson of Carrollton, Texas and Linda Kay (Hefner) Simmons and husband, Richard, of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Greg Graves, Renee (Graves) Townzen, Stacey (Graves) Hood, Terri (Richardson) Friday and Kendall Richardson; great nieces and nephews, Lisa, Lance, Christina, Matthew, and Catherine; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great nieces and nephews; and his special friends that he played dominos with daily.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Sunnylane Cemetery, located in Del City, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
