Sundra Lee Brooksher

d. April 2, 2024

Sundra Lee (Heaston) Brooksher of Edmond, OK passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 2, 2024, at the age of 81.

Sundra was born on July 26, 1942, to Orville and Toy Lee Heaston of Chickasha, OK.  She graduated school from Chickasha High School in 1960.  Sundra was a proud member of the 60’s Chicks with many of her dearest high school friends.  After high school she attended the Oklahoma College of Women at USAO graduating with her Bachelor of Science Degree.  Following college, she began her career with an internship and residency at Baptist Hospital, from there she went on to work for various doctors in the Oklahoma City and surrounding areas.  She later went on to co-own Cardiovascular Disease Lab in Edmond, OK where she was able to travel and participate in health fairs across the United States working closely with the United Methodist conference.

Sundra married Don Brooksher and they shared a life full of love and adventure. On June 6, 2024, they would have celebrated their 60 th Wedding Anniversary.  Sundra and Don were car enthusiasts and loved going to different car shows, swap meets, and drag races where she and Darnetha Cobb learned to pack parachutes on dragsters. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with close friends that she considered family.

Sundra was a Lifetime Member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority, Oklahoma Epsilon Chapter, where she met many lifetime friends. Sundra served in most offices in sorority, she was always eager to help and was always a wonderful hostess. She was a recipient of the sorority’s Past President’s award.  She was much more than just a member; she will always be remembered as someone very special.

Sundra was the most wonderful loving mother to her son Brad who always brought a twinkle to her eyes.  She was extremely proud of her family and was very welcoming to daughter-in-law, Alicia.  She was most proud of her one and only grandson Brayden, always offering to keep him when he was little, always had a snack ready, and I can’t remember a day when she ever told him “No”!

Sundra was preceded in death by both of her parents, Don’s parents Ralph and Faye Brooksher; brother-in-law Bobby Brooksher; and sister-in-law Shirley (Brooksher) Burnes.

Survivors include her husband Don of the home, her son Brad and daughter in law Alicia, grandson Brayden, all of Edmond; her brother Gary Heaston of Wichita Falls, Tx; brothers in law Ron Brooksher of Mustang, Jim Brooksher of Denver, Colorado and Martin Burnes of Chickasha; nieces Stephanie Heaston of Wichita Falls, TX; Ronda (Jared) Dawson of Dallas, Tx; Jennifer Burnes of Lawrence, KS; and the Hefner Family of Chickasha.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
