A funeral service for Sue Carter, 78, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wendee Perceful officiating.

Katherine “Sue” Carter was born December 14, 1945 in Independence, Kansas to Maxwell Carter and Virginia (Frye) Carter. She passed from this life on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Sue grew up in Independence, graduating from high school there then going to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. She earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Med Tech and Biology. She worked for St. John’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then moved to Chickasha and worked as a lab tech at Southern Plains Medical Center in 1976, retiring in 2011 after many years as the lab manager.

Sue was a member of Providence Methodist Church, Altrusa, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Yet Set. She was on the Board of the Resurrection House and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed gardening, was a stained-glass craftsman, had a keen interest in the Royal Family, and loved to travel. She was an avid Disney fan and had just recently made her 56 th trip to Disney World. Sue had the funniest dry sense of humor. She was always ready for an adventure.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a niece, Charlotte Myers.

Loved ones left to remember her are her Chickasha family Janie and Jay Epperson, Katie and Wayne Brandon and their children Tatum and Sophia, Josh and Brandi Epperson and their daughter Charlotte; brother and sister-in-law John and Dian Carter of Georgia; nephews and their wives Ben and Lauren Carter, Andrew and Jillian Carter, and Max and Kelsey Carter; great-nieces and nephews Brooke, Lux, Zane, Zoey, Pippa, Amber, and Kinzley; friends Reta Bush, Jackie and Margaret Fleming, Clint and Sarah, Sharon Johnson, Rob and Suzy Morgan, and Shirley Hayes; many other adopted nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

There will be a viewing for Sue the morning of her service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. There will be no viewing after the service.

Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery located in Independence, Kansas will be on under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
