A viewing will be held for Steve “Smokey” Graves, 76, of Chickasha, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Ferguson Funeral Home.
Steve “Smokey” Graves, aka Popz, was born January 27, 1945 to James and Rachel Graves. He was the oldest of 12 children and he was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
Shortly after graduating high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Air Force, there he proudly served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he worked at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard for seven years.
While there he met his wife, Burlene. They were married in 1985 in Long Beach, California where together they raised three children. He was a devoted husband and father.
He spent his spare time with his kids teaching them to fish. In 2012, Steve and Burlene relocated to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where he spent the remainder of his years. He enjoyed retirement, spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Burlene Graves of the home in Chickasha; daughters Messe “Peabody” Haslacker and husband Richard of Adelanto, California and Stephanie “Puddin” Graves of McKinney, Texas; son Steve B. “Buzzard” Graves and wife Monique of Chickasha; nine grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
