A memorial service for Sharon Kay Simmons, 79, of Chickasha, formerly of Cement, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Later her cremains will be buried at Cement Cemetery.
Sharon Kay (Weedn) Simmons was born September 6, 1943 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Donald Clarence Weedn and Reba Rilla (Ikard) Weedn. She passed from this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Sharon grew up west of Cyril and graduated from Cyril High School. She married at a young age and they lived in Cement.
She worked at the Cement grocery store as a checker and throughout her life she also took care of the elderly as a home health aide. She loved children and would be the local babysitter for anyone who needed her.
Sharon was a bargain hunter, going to all the garage sales across the county and attending auctions, looking for a good deal. She always had a large garden and liked canning and cooking. She had a great cackle for a laugh and a very loud whistle.
She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother Larry Weedn and a brother-in-law Ronald Shelton.
Survivors are her sister Donita Shelton and brother John David Weedn, both of Lawton; and other extended family and friends.
Interment and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
