Funeral services for Sharon Kay Callen, 70, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 in the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Volante officiating and Reverend Bob Gordon assisting.

Sharon Kay (Patton) Callen was born on February 13, 1952 in Mangum, Oklahoma to R.L. Patton and Betty Jo (Craven) Patton. She passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Sharon grew up in Mangum, graduating from Mangum High School in 1970. She then attended Southwestern State College (now SWOSU) in Weatherford, receiving a BA in Education.

On May 27, 1972, she married the love of her life James Callen in Mangum. This May they would have celebrated 50 years of life together.

Over the years as Jim moved around to different coaching jobs, Sharon was a teacher at Cement, Elk City, Chickasha, Friend and Mangum. She worked for many years with DHS, first as a case worker and later with the KIDS program at the state office.

She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She loved music, playing the piano and reading. Taking a vacation and going to the beach were some of Sharon’s favorite things. She and Jim would enjoy their lake house at Texoma or winter for months at a time at Winterhaven Resort in Brownville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Patton; grandparents Bud and Essie Patton and Blanche and Alvin Craven.

Survivors include her husband Jim of the home; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Scott Breshears of Blanchard; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Erin Callen of Weatherford; father R.L. Patton of Mangum; brother and sister-in-law Ron and Theresa Patton of Brownville, Texas; grandchildren Mason, Bryce, Claire and Grant; many other extended family and friends from all over.

The family will receive friends at Ferguson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17 th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. There will be no open casket at the funeral home or the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Children’s Hospital Foundation at www.chfkids.com Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home
