Funeral services for Roy Lyndal True, Sr., 91, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David McDougal officiating and with Richard Rust assisting.

Roy Lyndal True was born March 26, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Homer Coates “H.C. Bill” True and Lydia (Spoon) True. He took his heavenly home flight on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Chickasha, Oklahoma surrounded by his family.

Roy lived in Grady County his entire life. He attended Oak Ridge and Dibble schools.

On December 10, 1949, he married Inola Austin and they were married for almost 48 years until her passing in October 1996. They had three children Linda, Ginger and Roy Jr.

Roy was a farmer and rancher. He had also worked at Maremont and for Grady County for ten years. He loved God and family very much. He started attending The Hawkins Freewill Baptist Church at the age of 19 and became a deacon of the church in his twenties. He enjoyed singing and loved Southern Gospel music. Roy was the song leader for the church for many years. His favorite scripture was John 3:16. He later married Joyce Drennan.

He was known by Daddy, Grandpa and Papa and will be remembered for his big smile and his love for people. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lydia True; wives Inola True and Joyce Drennan; and sisters Novella Perry and Billie Peacock.

He is survived by his daughters Linda True and Ginger True of Chickasha; son Roy True, Jr. and wife Judy of Alex; sister Gayla Coffey of Norman; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
