Memorial services for Rosezellen Annette Hammert, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Rosezellen Annette (Anderson) Hammert was born on April 9, 1936 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward Joseph Anderson and Rhama Willene (Gentry) Anderson. She passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Rose grew up in Anadarko, graduating as Salutatorian from Anadarko High School in 1954. She then attended Oklahoma State University for two years.
She married Charles C. Freeny, Jr. and they made their home in Fort Worth, Texas, where she finished her RN degree while raising her three sons, Charles III, Bryan, and James. She worked for many years for Dr. Albert McDowell. While living in Fort Worth, she was a member of the Connell Baptist Church for over 20 years.
On July 21, 2001, Rose was blessed to marry her childhood sweetheart, B.W. “Pete” Hammert, and they made their home in Anadarko, moving to Chickasha about seven years ago.
Rose attended and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chickasha. She liked to travel and study genealogy. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter CR. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her first husband, Charles C. Freeny, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, B.W. “Pete” Hammert, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles III and Sara Freeny of Flower Mound, Texas, Bryan and Lisa Freeny of Fort Worth, Texas, and James and Courtney Freeny of Spring, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Thresa and Jerry Moser of Anadarko; step-children, De Barnes, Janice Blasingame and husband Steve of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Rhonda Hammert; grandchildren, Patrice Odle, Caitlin Dobecka, Charles Freeny IV, Blake Freeny, Brent Freeny, and Clay Freeny; step-grandchildren, Matt Barnes and wife Loren of Edmond, Oklahoma, Evan and Jilene Blasingame of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Tommy and Carly Wise of Moore, Oklahoma; step-great grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Barnes, Aiden and Easton Blasingame and Ethan Wise and many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 124 S. 6 th Street, Chickasha, OK 73018 or to your favorite charity.
Cremation arrangements and interment in Memory Lane Cemetery located in Anadarko, Oklahoma will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
