Funeral services for Robert Warren “Dub” Norvell Jr., 79, of Amber, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at the Amber First Baptist Church with Bob Gordon officiating.
Dub was born on May 8, 1937, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Robert Warren Norvell, Sr. and Louella (Dunlap) Norvell. He passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Dub’s childhood and much of his adult life was spent farming. Dub married Nancy Mae Cole on July 29, 1960, in Chickasha. Soon thereafter, they moved to Amber, Oklahoma, where they made their home and operated a dairy farm. Dub and Nancy were blessed with three sons, Steve Norvell, Stanley Norvell and Richard Kirk.
Together, Dub and Nancy were very active in the youth ministry at Amber First Baptist Church, attending Falls Creek for many years as well as church ski trips and hosting church functions whenever possible.
Dub spent many years with Nancy by his side attending sporting events, especially basketball games at Amber-Pocasset Schools. They loved to watch their grandchildren play, although they continued going to games long after their youngest grandchild had graduated. He could also often be found volunteering his time for various projects to improve the school such as helping build a new ag building and making sure other needs were met.
Most importantly, for over 55 years, Dub was a devoted husband, loving and caring for Nancy with all of his heart.
Dub is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louella Norvell, and his wife, Nancy Norvell.
He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Roulet and husband, Darrell, of Weatherford, OK; and Frankie Still and husband, Dawain, of Yukon, OK. Dub also leaves behind three sons, Steve Norvell and wife Connie of Ryan, OK; Stanley Norvell of Amber, OK; and Richard Kirk of Stillwater, OK. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Tyler Norvell and wife, Beth, of Tuttle, OK; Julie Henderson and husband, Nathan, of Moore, OK; and Kyle Norvell and wife, Tamara, of Granite, OK. Dub has three wonderful great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Saylor Norvell of Tuttle and Coen Henderson of Moore. He is also survived by a beloved caretaker, Brenda Morse, as well as numerous loving family members and dear friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amber First Baptist Church Building Fund, 308 E. Main, Amber, OK 73004.
Interment in Amber Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
