Robert “Jack” Thomas

d. December 16, 2017

Private services for Robert “Jack” Matison Thomas, 78, of Chickasha, will be held by the family.

Robert Matison Thomas, known by most as “Jack”, was born on October 7, 1939 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Van Thomas and Mildred Ellen (Ford) Thomas. He died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jack graduated from Galveston High School. He worked for 25 years in the print shop of the County of Ventura in California as a graphics manager, and received many accolades and accommodations.

He married JoAnn Fisher on August 5, 1961 in Ojai, California and they had over 56 years together.

When he and JoAnn moved to Chickasha, he became an active member of the community. Jack was a very unselfish person and he loved to help other people and gave much of his time to charitable causes, including volunteering at Grady Memorial Hospital, the Emergency Food Pantry and Santa’s Workshop. He was a very active member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended any event they were in, he never missed their activities. He was the best grandfather, father and husband. He will be greatly missed.

In honor of his love for giving, the family asks that in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be given to a charity of choice.

Jack was preceded in death by both parents and a son, Jeffrey Clark Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathon and Robin Thomas of Norman; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Jeffery Barrett of Anadarko; granddaughter, Teran Ann Keller; grandsons, Hunter and Braven Thomas and Jonathon and Jaxon Barrett; sister, Barbara Ellen Henry and husband, Bobby Jo; brother, Larry Joe Thomas; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
