Rita Imogene Hall

d. March 15, 2016

Graveside services for Rita Imogene Hall, 88, of Chickasha, previously of Anadarko, will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Memory Lane Cemetery, in Anadarko, with Ezell Nelson officiating

Rita Imogene Hall was born February 18, 1928 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to George Thomas and Mattie Catherine Devine.

She grew up in the Ft. Cobb area, involved in school activities including playing on the girls’ basketball team of which she was very proud. She graduated from Ft. Cobb High School.  Rita moved to Anadarko and worked as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company.  While working in Anadarko, she attended a dance at the Community Center with friends where she met the love of her life, James Roy Hall.  The couple was married February 22, 1951.  Four and a half years later she and Roy welcomed a new member to their family with the birth of their only child, Michael Roy.

Over the years, the Hall family played an active role in the Anadarko community. Rita lost her loving husband in October of 1980 after 29 years of marriage. Four years later in October of 1984, she was blessed with the first of two precious granddaughters, the second arriving in 1989.  Rita loved having her granddaughters visit and she proudly took them everywhere.  She lost her devoted son in 1997. The greatest joy in Rita’s life was her family.  She loved being a mother and grandmother and treasured her times with family. Rita remained active in Anadarko with church, clubs, and civic organizations for the remaining years of her life until her health required her to move to Glenhaven Retirement Village in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas and Mattie Catherine Devine, husband James Roy Hall, son Michael Roy Hall, sister and brother-in-law Neoma and Cleon Jones, brother and sister-in-law LeRoy and Hazel Devine.

She is survived by granddaughters, Alexandra Elizabeth Hall Cushing and her husband John Tyler Cushing, and Meredith Grace Hall, daughter-in-law Patti Walding and her husband, Andrew, all of Oklahoma City. In addition, Rita leaves behind an extended family of nieces and nephews from around the state and across the nation.
