Funeral services for Richard “Rick” Young, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 in the Sharon Baptist Church with Pastors Jon Bawden and Phillip Mullins officiating.
Richard Lavern Young, known by most as Rick, was born January 13, 1940 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to J.E. Young and Derotha Lee Young. He passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at his home in Chickasha surrounded by his family.
On February 7, 1958, Rick married Martha Ann Floyd in Rush Springs, Oklahoma and they shared over 62 years together until her passing in December 2020.
Rick grew up in the Chickasha and Rush Springs area, attending Rush Springs School. He and Martha owned and operated their own water well drilling company for over sixty years.
He enjoyed going to auctions, buying and selling equipment, playing cards, running equipment, ranching, drinking coffee with friends
Rick was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church and the Oklahoma Water Well Drillers Association.
He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Martha; daughters, Sheila Baker and Marilyn Gay Young; brother and sister-in-law, Rusty and Carolyn Young; brother and sister-in-law Jodie and Judy Young.
Survivors include son Rodney Young of Chickasha; grandson Jason Baker of Chickasha; grandson and wife, Brandon and Abby Baker of Noble, Oklahoma; grandson Clayton Baker of Slaughterville, Oklahoma; and close family friend Vonnie Davidson.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church at 2414 State Highway 92, Chickasha, OK 73018.
