Funeral services for Richard Junior Frye, 85, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 in the Grand Assembly of God Church with Pastor Gary Rogers and Pastor Paul Knight officiating.

Richard Junior Frye was born May 4, 1929 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the son of Jacob Richard Frye and Phena (Wren) Frye. He died Monday, March 23, 2015 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Richard grew up and attended schools in Kinta and Lequire, Oklahoma. His father was a small dirt farmer. In February 1947, he joined the United States Navy and served until September 1949.

He attended Paris Junior College and Lamar Business College, both in Paris, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University. From 1951 until 1959 and again from 1971 until 1977, he was employed by the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture. Richard also worked for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for 33 years.

Richard joined the ministry in 1956, and up until his death he helped the elderly, ex-prisoners, and the community by offering services and counselling programs. Many lives were introduced to Christ and taught to lead happy, healthy lives by him. He was attending Grand Assembly of God Church.

Richard married Mary Cordelia Dollins and they had two sons, Dicky and Ronnie Frye.

On December 3, 2010, Richard married Marjorie Grossnicklaus in Chickasha.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Richard  Frye; mother Phena “Finnie” Frye; step-mom, Martha Frye; brother, Jimmy Frye; and sisters, Alice Leaks and Brenda Q. Frye.

Survivors are his wife, Marjorie Frye, of the home; sons, Dicky Wayne Frye and wife, Jan, of Norman and Ronnie Frye and wife, Debbie, of Moore; grandchildren, Dalton Frye, Anastasia Nicole Frye, Lance Frye, and Cody Frye; stepsons, Brett Hurley and Jay Grossnicklaus of Chickasha; sisters Ruth Dickey of Stigler, Barbara Shepperd of Stigler, Wanda Shepperd of Longtown, Lucille Cox of Stigler, Linda Suttles of Stigler, Carolyn Frye of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Nicola Holly of Chickasha; brothers, Tommy Frye of Pocasset and Charles Farris of Kingfisher; and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Amber Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
