Graveside services for Richard Dean Kluver, 66, of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Clinton Cemetery with Brother Kim Hayes officiating.

Mr. Kluver, also known as “Dickie”, was born July 28, 1953 in Chickasha, OK to Fred Raymond Kluver and Christel Lulu (Smith) Kluver. He passed away peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2020 in Mustang, OK after a short battle with cancer.

Dickie grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. In 1971, he married Sandy Powell and to this union, his two children, Shane and Autumn were born. Shortly after they married, he enlisted into the U.S. Army where he received his training as a medic. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, Ft. Sam Houston, and Germany. After his military service, he worked in the oilfield and during slow periods, he would work part-time at Stidham Trailers. Around 1984, Dickie settled into his career in the natural gas industry as a compression mechanic which he continued until his retirement in 2018.

On October 19, 1985, he married Joanne Reeb in Oklahoma City. The couple made their home in Clinton in December 1986.

Dickie enjoyed traveling and attending National Street Rod events his 1939 Chevy Sedan that he built. He was no stranger to the racing scene as he grew up racing go karts and then later began drag racing. He continued this family legacy by introducing his son to racing. These last four years, he was likely found at a dirt track as that legacy continues through his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by both parents; brother Fred R. Kluver, Jr.; and wife Joanne.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Shane and Angela Kluver of Mustang; daughter and son-in-law Autumn and Dan Rogers of Cement; sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Vernon Riddle of Ninnekah and Linda and Vic Bryan of Mustang; sister-in-law Anita Kluver of Tuttle; six grandchildren Hoak Kluver, Jordan Kluver, Chance Dhalluin, Seth Dhalluin, McKenna Rogers, and Henry Rogers; and four great-grandsons Easton, Jett, Cooper, and Gus; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha on Wednesday, April 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Hoak, Jordan, Chance, Seth, McKenna, and Henry.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
