Funeral services for Rena Iris Simmons, 95, of Cement, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, in the Cement School Auditorium, Cement, Oklahoma with Reverend John Zwolle officiating.
Rena Simmons went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Cement, Oklahoma. She was born on August 29, 1917 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to George William Beavers, and Hattie (Remy) Beavers.
Rena married T.B. Simmons on November 9, 1940, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Rena spent most of her life in the Cement area. She was a gifted writer, and there was never a word she couldn’t spell. Rena loved to dance, read, crochet, and travel, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandkids.
She was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers; her husband, T.B. Simmons; and three grandsons, Clay Ryans, Michael Simmons, and Paul Simmons.
She is survived by her sister, Wanda Carter of Grand Forks, Canada; her daughter, Swana Del Cogburn of Cement, Oklahoma; her daughter, Iris Dale Simmons of Holdenville, Oklahoma; her daughter and son-in-law, Arda Cogburn and husband Houston Cogburn of Cement, Oklahoma; her son, Vance Simmons of Cement, Oklahoma; her daughter, Holly Ryans of Cement, Oklahoma; her son and daughter-in-law, Dustin Simmons and wife Jeanette of Cement, Oklahoma; and 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
