A graveside service for R.A. Everett, Jr., 95, of Chickasha, will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Fairlawn Cemetery with Kim Hayes officiating.
R.A. Everett, Jr. was born on July 26, 1925, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Royal and Vela Everett. He passed away on January 7, 2021, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
At 18 years-old R.A. joined the United States Navy Construction Battalion, where his unit helped build the airbase and radar towers on Iwo Jima during World War II.
He and Anna Belle Darnell were married in 1945 in Baton Rouge, LA, and he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. They returned to Chickasha and he helped manage, and worked as a butcher, at his parent’s grocery, Everett’s Food Store, for many years.
R.A. enjoyed raising and fighting chickens. He was a kind and generous person to everyone. He was devoted to his family and took excellent care of their special needs, daughter, Glenda.
R.A. is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ila Mae Everett, wife, Ann Everett, daughter, Glenda Everett, brother-in-law, Jim Darnell, and sister-in-law, Gay Darnell.
He is survived by his niece, Jamie Darnell Butler, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, great-nephew, Beau Butler, of Boston, MA, and extended family Darlene and Jeff Newby and their children Cory, Brandy, and Judd.
There will be no public viewing.
