Funeral services will be held for Quienton Lewis Costlow, 91, of Chickasha at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Talbert officiating.
Quienton Lewis Costlow was born on April 24, 1920, in Frankston, Texas, the son of John and Sallie Williams Costlow. He died on Monday, December 5, 2011, in Norman.
Quienton grew up on the family farm in Poynor, Texas and graduated from La Poynor School in La Rue-Poynor, Texas.
He spent some time working with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression. He then proudly served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945.
He married the love of his life and wife for almost sixty-nine years, Mickie Mahan, on December 26, 1942, in Kingman, Arizona.
The family came to the Chickasha area in 1954. Quienton went to work for Mobil Oil Company and would be employed with them for thirty-eight years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion and the Northside Church of Christ and was involved in the Boy Scouts of America as a leader for many years. He served on the Chickasha City Council for several years and was a past president of the Chickasha High School Band Parents.
Quienton had lots of hobbies including hunting and especially bird hunting, fishing and traveling. He was an outdoorsman and he loved music, especially bluegrass and Irish.
He was preceded in death by: both parents, one sister and one daughter-in-law.
Survivors include: wife Mickie of Chickasha, two sons, Richard Lewis Costlow and wife Suzanne of Traverse City, MI, and Dennis Costlow and wife Cheryl of Grand Junction, CO, daughter Sally Bowers of Lafayette, LA, sister Edna Lee Owens of Frankston, TX, brother Delton Costlow and wife Bea of Stanton, TX, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
