Funeral services for Phyllis Rosalyn Ladyman, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Chickasha First (Assembly of God) with Pastor Chad Allred officiating and Paul Knight and Mark Carpenter assisting.

Phyllis Rosalyn (Altman) Ladyman was born February 26, 1937 in Pampa, Texas to Bertie “Dink” Altman and Alletha (Harmon) Altman. She passed from this life on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at her home in Chickasha, surrounded by her loved ones.

Phyllis grew up in Pampa and graduated Pampa High School, never once missing a day of school. She and HD Ladyman were high school sweethearts and on July 9, 1955 they were married in Pampa.

HD was drafted into the United States Army and he was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton. Phyllis worked civil service at Fort Sill in the purchasing and contracting department from February 1962 until April 1993, retiring after 31 years. Throughout her years of working, she also raised her family of four children.

In 1976, the family moved to Anadarko, where HD worked as manager of PSO and in 1983 they settled in Chickasha. All those years Phyllis drove back and forth to Lawton for work.

She was a faithful member of Chickasha First, very active in the church kitchen where she and her good friend, Sylvia Moore, led the fried pie fundraisers, managed the funeral dinners and the kitchen during the craft fairs for many years.  She also volunteered at the food pantry.  Phyllis was notorious for her detailed record keeping that she retained from the first year she started a project.  Phyllis loved baking and decorating birthday cakes for her grandchildren.  She made each of them a family scrapbook.  She volunteered at Southwest Elementary, letting the children read to her.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband HD in August 1993, and her sisters Annette Ely and Della Gee.

Survivors are her children Pam Ladyman of Chickasha, Cindy Kalb and husband Martin of Wimberly, Texas, Steve and Dana Ladyman of Anadarko, and Laura Coponiti and husband Mickey of Chickasha; sister Cathy Jones of Wisconsin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dale and Jewel Brewer of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses Mario and Stephany Villar, Tanner and Jordan Charlson, Brittany Hurla, Whittany and Scott Collins, Samantha and Landon Bartholomew, Candice Kalb, Eric and Kirby Ladyman, Hunter and Megan Ladyman, Jennifer and Sooner Harmon, Kaysee and Matt Jones, and Cody Coponiti; 18 great-grandchilden; many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be at the funeral home Tuesday, September 20 th from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
