The family will hold memorial graveside services for Phillip Neal Stanley, 79, of Chickasha, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating.
Phillip was born May 17, 1938 to Mark Carey Stanley and Mildred Bess (White) Stanley. He passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Phil grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma and attended the Chickasha Public Schools. He attended the last two years of high school at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. Phil also attended the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Central University.
He married Verlene Ruth Smith on August 22, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To this union, two sons were born, Vance Neil Stanley and Kirk Lynn Stanley.
He worked at Armour Creameries in Chickasha. In 1967 he moved to Ada, Oklahoma working for the State Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1993. In 1996 he moved back to Chickasha to be closer to his family. Phil enjoyed his retirement by keeping a home in Chickasha while spending several months each year traveling in a RV seeing almost every state in the U.S.A. He loved meeting up with friends and family while traveling. After RVing, in 2014 Phil reacquainted with his church family and spent many happy hours watching sport events, especially Oklahoma State football.
Phil was preceded in death by both his parents; son, Vance Neil Stanley; brother, Mark Carey Stanley Jr.
He is survived by his wife Verlene of the home; son, Kirk Lynn Stanley of Chickasha; granddaughters, Erika Linn Stanley of Newcastle, Oklahoma and Hannah Marie Stanley of Bixby, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Joni Schwartz Stanley of Shawnee, Oklahoma; brother-in law Carl Smith and wife, Ann of Chickasha, Oklahoma; niece, Carla Feuerborn and husband Eric of Chickasha, Oklahoma; great nephew Ryan Feuerborn of Chickasha, Oklahoma and other extended family and friends.
Cremation services only are provided by Ferguson Funeral Home.
