Funeral services for Robert Phillip ‘Phil’ Wheeler, 61, of Chickasha, will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.
Robert Phillip Wheeler, known as Phil, was born in Chickasha on September 20, 1953 to Hardy Samuel Wheeler and Phyllis Bernice (Heisler) Wheeler. He passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Phil attended Chickasha High School graduating in 1971. While attending Chickasha Schools, he belonged to the Chickasha FFA Chapter, where he showed many home raised Polled Hereford heifers and steers. Cattle showing was a true passion of his which followed him until the day he passed. While in the FFA Chapter he served as the president from 1969 to 1971. He had countless fond memories of his time spent in the chapter and always remembered to lend a helping hand to FFA until late in his life.
Phil attended Oklahoma State University and obtained a degree in Agriculture Economics. His favorite times at Stillwater were in his fraternity, Acacia, where he served as rush chair during the summers.
Upon graduation Phil returned home and worked for the family farm, Wheeler Family Farms. The farm was his whole life, where he lived and breathed farming and ranching. He was always so proud of his registered Hereford breed. He oversaw the acquisition of Wheeler Farms entering the registered Angus business in 1999.
Phil and Lynda Susan Lambrecht were united in marriage on July 4, 1986 in Chickasha. They remained best friends and lifetime partners until his passing.
He was a person that always smiled and made sure you were doing the same. His happiness was contributed to him doing what he loved each day. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Hardy Samuel Wheeler and his mother, Phyllis Bernice (Heisler) Wheeler.
Phil leaves behind his wife of the home, Lynda S. Wheeler; son and daughter-in-law, William C. and Nicole Dawn Wheeler of Chickasha; son, Samuel Seth Wheeler of Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Tracy and Patrick Yokley of Vallejo, California; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Tom Singleterry of Dallas, Texas; two nieces and their husbands, Misha and Matt Hillstrom and Summer and Jason Mangum; as well as many extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
