Ottis Morgan Grigg, Jr.

d. August 6, 2015

Funeral services for Ottis Morgan Grigg, Jr., 79, of Ninnekah, will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Hatfield officiating.

Ottis Morgan Grigg, Jr. was born on October, 2, 1935 in Lydia, Texas, the son of Ottis Morgan Grigg, Sr. and Laverna (Murphy) Grigg. He died Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

Ottis grew up in Waxahachie, Texas and attended schools there. He met the love of his life, Bettie Joe Parrish, in April of 1953 and was married to her a week later. They celebrated their 62 nd wedding anniversary in April 2015.

Ottis worked in the oilfield his whole life and many of those years were with Grace and Baker Drilling. He was a hard worker and always did whatever it took to provide for his family. He retired from Grace Drilling in 2003. He was the type of person that couldn’t sit at home, so he then began working for CCI Services in 2004 and retired for good in 2010, at the age of 74. Even after retiring that last time, Ottis didn’t slow down until his final illness.

He loved his family very much and spent his life spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a heart of gold and would leave an impression on anyone he came in contact with.

Ottis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oren and Linnie Murphy; father, Ottis Morgan Grigg, Sr. and Laverna Grigg Mooneyham; granddaughter, Jeannie Grigg; and son-in-law, Sherman Head.

Survivors are his wife, Bettie, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and John Reed of Ninnekah; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dean Grissom, of Ninnekah; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Wes Blankenship of Lindsay; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Betty Grigg of Yukon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Sue Herbold of Antioch, California and William and Pat Askew of Corvallis, Oregon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Billy Crabb of Milburn and Ruby and Steve Wiener of Maricopa, Arizona; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and friends.

Ottis’s wishes were cremation following the services.

Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
