Funeral services for Omar Allen Sites, 79, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
Omar Allen Sites died Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Omar was born on July 28, 1940 in Cement, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cement High School in 1958; two months later Omar enlisted in the US Navy. Omar’s naval duties primarily involved radio cryptography within the Naval Security Group Activity and included assignments in Texas, California, Germany, Washington D.C., Scotland, Florida, and the Philippines. Omar retired a First Class Petty Officer in 1977 and moved to Chickasha. After he graduated from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1981, Omar worked as a bookkeeper and manager. Omar enjoyed raising cattle, wine making and was an active member of the Chickasha Elks Lodge #2125 for 40 years.
On June 11, 1966 he married Carol Jean Forrest in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania. They were married 53 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Omar Dale Sites and Octa Maxine Bonner; 2 brothers: Richard Dale Sites and Harry Eugene Sites; and 3 sisters: Evelyn Ruth Bledsoe, Joan Eloise Chaney, and Dorthy Nell Johnson.
He is survived his wife and daughter: Carol and Laura Jean Miller, both in Chickasha; son and grandson: Angus and Carson, both in Spring, TX; and 2 sisters: Nona Marie Hale in Tulsa and Martha “Lynn” Charlson in Cement.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Omar’s honor may be made to the USAO Foundation, 1727 W. Alabama, Chickasha, OK 73018
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Interment will be held in the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
