Norma Ruth (Crump) Hayes, age 80 of Chickasha, entered the gates of heaven at 8 am on January 8, 2015. She died to this earthly life surrounded by family at her home in Chickasha.
Funeral service for Norma will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 10 at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha, OK.
Norma, the daughter of Joseph Deward and Leona Mae (Bazar) Crump, was born on November 23, 1934, in Tabler, Oklahoma.
Norma attended Pocasset and Verden Schools and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1952 where she was active in school activities and sports especially softball and basketball. After high school she worked at the Liberty Drug and later as a telephone operator. Following her marriage to John Bradley Hayes, January 10, 1953, she was a home maker with homes in Midwest City, Baton Rouge, LA and Chickasha. She and John owned and managed numerous rental properties in Chickasha.
Following his death, Norma managed the rentals and worked as a floral designer for over forty years, retiring this past year from Kendall’s Flower Shop.
Norma was a much loved and active member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha where she was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday School and assisted in the nursery. She also was an office volunteer for many years at Chickasha’s Access Free Health Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Hayes, her parents; four brothers: Billy, Kenneth, Bob, and Larry Crump and sister Connie Davidson and one grandson James Joshua Clark.
Survivors include: sons Steven and wife Susan Elaine of Crosby, Mississippi; Jeffrey and wife Susan of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan Kay and husband Jim Clark of Chickasha; grandchildren: Stephanie Jones and husband Brandon; Jonathan Clark and friend Cass Wylie; Julie Moore and husband Jacob; Jeffery West; Sarah Hayes and Kristi Hayes; brothers, John Crump and wife Glenda of Chickasha and Joseph Leon Crump and wife Fran of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters-in law: Judy Crump of Chickasha, Sharon Crump of Lexington, Mo., Janice Crump of Norman, OK., Lelia Smiley, Chickasha, OK., and Lucille Grigsby of Oklahoma City; great grandchildren: Aaron and Leanne Webb, Lucas Webb, Jared Clark, Bree McCarley, Brooke McCarley, Caleb Jones, Selah Jones, Izabella Jones and great, great grandchildren Blakely Webb and Parker Webb; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Officiating will be Minister Johnny Tims and assisting Mike Butler.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Ferguson Funeral Home.
