Graveside services for Norma “Jean” West of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m., October 30, 2020 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Reverend Scott Keneda officiating. Viewing will be at Ferguson Funeral home Thursday the 29th, 1:30 – 7:00.
Jean was born June 13, 1927 in Grady county to Hubert and Ercyle Miser and passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She graduated high school from Chickasha in 1947 and college from Oklahoma Women’s College in 1951 with a teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Pauls Valley and Ft. Worth, Texas.
She was married to Ted West on August 3, 1953. After moving to Ft. Worth, Texas and starting a family, they moved back to Chickasha, Oklahoma where they farmed for over 30 years. Jean was a member of Epworth United Methodist church where she was active in UMW. She loved playing bridge and traveling the U.S. and enjoyed Sunday drives around the countryside, especially to the family pasture at Middleberg.
She is survived by one daughter, Alice Roberts of OKC; and one granddaughter, Rachel Roberts; and one sister, Frances Arthur Grimes of Pauls Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted in 2013; a son Philip West in 2007; and brother H.C. Miser in 1945.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
