Funeral service for Nina Mildred Cole of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.   at Maranatha Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Bishop officiating.

Nina Mildred Robinson was born in Cement, Oklahoma, on April 22, 1918 and departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2013 only a week from her 95 th birthday.  She was the daughter of Estus Clarence Robinson and Rosa May Igo Robinson.

Mildred grew up in the rural setting of Cement and Fletcher.  She attended elementary school at the rural schools of Cedar Grove and Rocky Ford.  She attended Cement High School where she was active in the school choir and was a member of a performing quartet.  Mildred graduated from Cement High School in 1936 and later obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Central State College in 1950.

On December 23, 1937 in Oklahoma City, she married her childhood sweetheart, Harley Coye Cole.

During Harley’s World War II deployment to Italy, Mildred moved to Oxnard, California to work in an ammunition factory.

Upon Harley’s return from the War, they resided in Fletcher until 1951, in Anadarko until 1960, and then relocated to Chickasha where Mildred taught school and Harley was sales manager for Don Martin Chevrolet Cadillac.

Her teaching career spanned 32 years in Cedar Grove, Fletcher, Medicine Park, Anadarko and Chickasha.  In the beginning she taught every grade.  In Chickasha she taught at the elementary level and also taught music, retiring in 1975.

She and Harley were members of Maranatha Baptist Church where she was at one time their pianist.

During her retirement she took great joy in babysitting her grandchildren, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, crocheting and going on trips.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harley Cole, and brothers, Bernie Robinson, Leslie Robinson, and sister, Estelle Tilley.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ron Cole and Barbara, her daughter and son in law, Rhonda Johnston and Rick, grandchildren, Jane Lyon and her husband D. J., Justin Cole, Amy Cole and great grandson Ethan Cole.

Interment will be at the Rose Hill cemetery under direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
