Funeral services for Nancy Mae Norvell, 73, of Amber, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Amber First Baptist Church with Keith Russell officiating.
Nancy Mae Norvell passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2015. She was born March 13, 1942, in California to Mason and Mattie Cole. In 1945 her family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Nancy married Robert (Dub) Norvell on July 29, 1960, in Chickasha, and they were married over 55 years. Soon thereafter, they moved to Amber, Oklahoma, where they made their home and operated a dairy farm. Dub and Nancy were blessed with three sons, Steve Norvell, Stanley Norvell and Richard Kirk.
For over 30 years, Nancy was employed by Standridge Equipment in Chickasha where she worked as a bookkeeper. Those who know her well describe her as a dedicated employee and someone who sincerely loved her job. She retired from Standridge Equipment in 2006.
Nancy’s life was devoted to her family and her church. She began playing the piano at Trinity Baptist at the young age of fourteen, and continued her service as a pianist at Amber First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. In addition, Nancy was incredibly active in the youth ministry, attending Falls Creek for many years as well as church ski trips and hosting church functions whenever possible.
Nancy also had a passion for sports as she never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events and could often be found watching college and professional sports at home with Dub.
She was a true lady, ever elegant, beautiful and timeless, but most importantly, she was selfless, always putting others’ needs before her own.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father and mother, Mason and Mattie Cole.
She is survived by her husband, Dub, of the home as well as three sons; Steve Norvell and wife Connie of Ryan, OK; Stanley Norvell of Amber, OK; and Richard Kirk of Stillwater. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Tyler Norvell and wife Beth of Tuttle, OK; Julie Henderson and husband Nathan of Moore, OK; and Kyle Norvell of Holdenville, OK. She is also survived by two beloved caretakers, Brenda Morse and Sandra Hansen, as well as numerous loving family members and dear friends.
