Funeral services for Mildred Naomi Sullivan, 82, of Alex, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Westside Church of Christ in Alex with Minister Brian Johnson officiating.
Mildred Naomi (Elrod) Sullivan was born February 9, 1937 in Lamesa, Texas, the daughter of Eugene G. Elrod and Esther (Haas) Elrod. She passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mildred grew up in Quinlan, Texas and attended school at Boles Home. She lettered in basketball and was a longtime member of the choir.
On July 5, 1955, she married Jim Sullivan in White Settlement, Texas and they were married for over 63 years.
Mildred loved to sew, cook and garden. She enthusiastically supported Jim in all his adventures. She was a great mother and always loved taking care of her family. She was a member of the Westside Church of Christ for over 30 years and was very active in the congregation. Her faith was always central to her life.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Jim Sullivan, Sr. in 2018; grandson James Neal May, Jr.; and several siblings.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Katrina and Kevin Browne of Roanoke, Alabama; son and daughter-in-law Jim, Jr. and Martha Sullivan of Tulsa; brothers Noble Elrod of Odessa, Texas and Floyd Elrod of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
