Funeral Mass for Micaela Avila, 63, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 in the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Micaela Avila was born May 21, 1960 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Miguel Mata and Inocencia Morales Mata. She passed from this life surrounded by her family on March 6, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a strong woman who battled cancer for eight years and fought hard until the very end.
Micaela grew up in Texas, Villa De Zaragoza, San Luis Potosi. On December 31, 1977, she married Casimiro Avila in Zaragoza, SLP. She made a warm and loving home and they had three daughters before immigrating to the States in 1984. They settled in Oklahoma and had two more daughters. They spent eight years in Kingfisher then came to Chickasha in 1993.
Over the years, she worked as a CNA at nursing homes in Kingfisher and Chickasha. She had also worked in restaurants, where she expanded on her love language of food. She would take anyone in, feed them and welcome them into her life. She was beyond friendly and never met a stranger. Her hobbies were thrifting for bargains and collecting frog figurines. She enjoyed listening to her windchimes, music and watching the birds at her birdfeeders. She loved gardening and carnations were her favorite flower. Her life revolved around her grandchildren, whom she took care of and spent the majority of her time with. She had pet names for each of them and they called her “Ma’ Mica.” She will be deeply missed and was greatly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Loved ones left to remember her are her husband Casimiro of the home; daughters and sons-in-law Ana and Jesus Ortega of Chickasha, Araceli and Angel Lopez of Chickasha, Daniela and Aurelio Echeverria of Oklahoma City, Nancy and Luis Gonzalez of Chickasha, and Denise and Andres Quiñonez of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Bryan, Gisselle, Emily, Monika, Adan, Giovanni, Diego, Jessika, Allison, Mateo, Erik, and Camila; brothers and sisters Roberto, Margarita, Maria De Jesus, and Miguel; nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
