A Funeral Service for Melvin Leon Wilson Jr., 53, of Chickasha will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vaughn Wand officiating.

Melvin Leon Wilson Jr. was born November 7, 1970 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma the son of Melvin Leon Wilson Sr. and Beverly Rodenna (Lightsey) Wilson. He passed from this earth on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his family.

Melvin grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1989. Melvin then enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country in Germany and Desert Storm from 1989 until 1993. After returning home to Chickasha he enrolled in the Canadian Valley Vocational Center where he received his education and licensure as a License Practical Nurse. Melvin later reenlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and in Kentucky. Later, returning back to Chickasha where he was employed as a Nurse at the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

Melvin was also a member of the National Guard of the United States.

In his free time Melvin loved to go to his mother’s house to eat her wonderful food.  He also enjoyed family cookouts, and family holidays together.  Melvin loved to attend backyard BBQ’s, watch NCIS, and go to Walmart on Saturdays. Melvin will greatly be missed by his family.

He is preceded in death by his father Melvin Wilson Sr; sister, Felicia Mulvaney; maternal grandmother, Maultie Fields; paternal grandparents; Thomas and Kathleen Wilson; and aunt Lisa Eyabi.

Loved ones left to remember Melvin are his mother, Beverly Wilson of Chickasha; brothers, Christopher Wilson of Chickasha, Steven Wilson of California and Brandon Wilson of Chickasha Sister, Ingred and Darrell Johnson of Chickasha; daughter, Shantel Perry of Texas; son, Melvin Wilson IV and his mother Carty Wilson both of New Jersey; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and one grandchild Shiloh Pizarro of Texas.

Viewing for Melvin will be held Friday May 31, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
