Funeral services for Melba “Walcie” Scott, 90, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday June 7, 2016 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Alice Wendling officiating.
Melba “Walcie” Scott was born on June 27, 1926 in the township of Brogdon, in Northeastern Johnston County, Oklahoma, the daughter of J.B. Manuel and Mary Elizabeth (Wallace) Manuel. She died on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Walcie grew up and attended rural schools in eastern Oklahoma. She moved to Verden when she was fourteen years old and attended Verden Public Schools.
She married Melvin Jack Scott in Verden, Oklahoma on December 15, 1945 and they were married until his passing in 2011. After her marriage, they moved to Chickasha and in 1956 moved to the Agawam and Ninnekah area.
Walcie was a homemaker most of her life, raising and taking care of her family. She was also member of the Ninnekah Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Jack; sisters, Ruby Ferguson, Loretta Scott, Molly McConnell, Judy Boudreaux, and Dorothy Thompson; and brother, Jimmy Manuel.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Rhonda Scott of Kingston, Leonard and Helena Scott of Yukon; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Luther Dawson of Newcastle; sisters, Lovie Tannehill of Ninnekah, Dovie Clouse of Moore and Betty Smith of Weatherford, brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Ruth Manuel of Chickasha; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
