Funeral services will be held for Melba J. Horstkoetter, 83, of Chickasha at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Cox officiating.
Melba J. Horstkoetter was born on March 31, 1928, in Stafford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Noah Pope and Bama Smith Pope. She died Friday, December 30, 2011, at home in Norge.
Melba graduated from Elk City Public Schools. She married Doyle Horstkoetter on April 13, 1957, in Sayre, Oklahoma. They moved their family to Chickasha in 1964.
Melba was a homemaker most of her life, working hard to make a loving home for her husband and their three children. She was employed for a brief time at the Red Bud Grocery in Chickasha.
Melba loved the outdoors and in her younger years she would spend many hours fishing and bird hunting. She always enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds.
She was preceded in death by: both parents, three sisters, two brothers, one infant grandson, and one infant granddaughter.
Survivors include: husband Doyle ‘Jack’ of the home; two sons, Victor Horstkoetter & wife Judy and Terry Horstkoetter & wife Belinda, all of Moore; one daughter, Lavon Blalock & husband Jimmy of Chickasha; two sisters, Arleva and Wyona; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Strong City Cemetery in Strong City, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
