Mary Helen Smart

A graveside service for Mary Helen Smart, 75, of Chickasha, formerly of Oregon, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Mary Helen Smart was born August 1, 1949, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Cecil Earl Stevens and Helen Odessa (Kimble) Stevens. She passed from this life on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Mary grew up as one of seven children. She married Donald Ray Smart, Sr. on January 10, 1968, in Dallas, Texas and they shared 57 years together.

They lived in Oregon and Don was a long-haul truck driver. Mary would travel with him during school breaks, and she saw many wonderful places across the United States. He retired in 2000 and then they moved to Chickasha almost 4 years ago to be near some family.

Mary lived a full life. She worked in nursing most of her life and was the manager of a foster care home for the elderly. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved life and her family and was willing to help anyone. She was a strongminded person that had gone through a lot. She had a strong faith in Jesus.

She enjoyed country and old-time gospel music. She was a good cook and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Her favorite color was purple, and she was particular about certain things and with the way she dressed.

Mary was preceded in death by both parents and siblings Dennis, Burt, Edna, and Shirley Stevens.

Loved ones left to remember her are her husband Don and daughter Ashley Lynn Smart of the home; son Donald Ray Smart, Jr. of Oregon; sisters Martha Eckert and Betty Sanders; nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

There will be no viewing for Mary.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
