A viewing for Mary Irene Hamlin, 89, of Chickasha, will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma and then a viewing at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas from 9:00 am to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 followed by graveside services later that day at 2:00 p.m. in Tomlin Cemetery.

Mary Irene Hamlin was born September 17, 1926 in Arlington, Texas, the daughter of William Leslie Harrison and Pearl (Tomlin) Harrison. She died on September 1, 2016 in Chickasha, Oklahoma

The Harrison’s and Tomlin’s were two of Arlington area’s pioneer families.

Mary was next to oldest of three boys and two girls. Mary graduated from Arlington High School, after graduating she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for five years, she later worked and retired from the Cement Public School System, she also worked at Red Bud Florist.  She was a member of Ninnekah First Baptist Church.

In 1946, she met Sgt. Lester F. Hamlin. He was stationed at Carswell Air Base out of Ft. Worth, Texas.  They got married in 1946 and 43 years later he passed away.  They had a very happy marriage and were a very happy mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  All who knew her looked to her for help and comfort.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and William Leslie Harrison; husband, Lester Frank Hamlin; daughter, Iva Leigh Hamlin; brothers, William Joseph Harrison, James Harrison and Herbert Harrison; sister, Martha Lou Harrison; niece, Vicki Tolliver; nephew, Bill Harrison.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lesta and Mike Voegeli; son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) Seth and Judy Hamlin; three grandchildren, Mike and Rhonda Hamlin, Leslie Hamlin and Derrick Voegeli; six great-grandchildren, Aaron Hamlin and wife, Sheena Hamlin, Dallas Hamlin, Abby Hamlin, Matthew Burgess, Michael Burgess and Aubree Voegeli; sister-in-law, Mildred Harrison; and other extended family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home of Chickasha with graveside services and interment under the direction of Wade Family Funeral Home of Arlington, Texas.
