A funeral service for Mary Annetta (Neal) Cunningham, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in the Ninnekah First Baptist Church with Pastor Curtis Townley officiating.
Mary Annetta Neal was born April 27, 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Lewis James Neal and Gladys Alice (Taylor) Neal. She passed from this life on Friday, October 20, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Mary grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha Schools.
On September 20, 1958, she married Ernest Arthur Cunningham and they were married 65 years.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Lucille OHCE for over 30 years. She always enjoyed wheat harvest time, when she would take meals to the fields to feed her hungry and hardworking family. She was a 4H sponsor at Ninnekah Schools. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, sewing, baking wedding cakes, photography, reading and caring for her family. She loved sneaking away to go shopping with friends, Helen Weaver, Frances Fulton and Catherine Willoughby. Later in life, Mary was very proud to get her college degree from USAO.
She was a faithful member of Ninnekah First Baptist Church since 1966. For Training Union, the evening teaching classes, she taught the 3-year-olds and was very active on several church committees. She loved the Lord and loved serving others.
Mary and Ernest travelled to Michigan for the births of their three northern grandchildren and were a great help to Ralph and Lisa, and those memories will forever be cherished. She hosted many a Thanksgiving and Christmas when the family were able to come visit with a kind heart and welcoming arms. All are thankful for her hospitality and kindness, and generosity. Mary will be greatly missed here, until the Resurrection! We shall meet again…
Mary was preceded in death by both parents and brothers Lewis Neal, John Neal, and Arthur Neal.
Loved ones left to remember her are her husband, Ernest of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Howard and Tammy Cunningham of Chickasha, Ralph and Lisa Cunningham of Milan, Michigan and Craig Cunningham of Minneapolis, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
The funeral service and the interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
