Funeral services for Mary Ann Vinyard, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Mary Ann (Varva) Vinyard was born March 7, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joe Frank Varva and Gladys Bell (Clopton) Varva. She passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

Mary Ann grew up in Anadarko graduating from Anadarko High School in 1951. She had a love for the piano that began when her mother bought her first piano when she was 9 years old. She earned a degree in music from Oklahoma College for Women (OCW) now USAO in 1955.

In June 1955, she married Ray C. Smedley and her two daughters, Brenda and Donna, were born to this union. During those early years and when the girls were growing up, they lived in Ardmore, Shawnee, Duncan, Altus, Anadarko, Claremore, Idabel and Broken Arrow. She went back to USAO and received her teaching certificate in 1968. She taught elementary school for years and taught music lessons after school.

Mary Ann moved back to Chickasha in 1977. She married Millard Lindsey in October 1982 and they were together until his death in 1999. She was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church for many years.

In July 2000, Mary Ann married Joe Vinyard and they shared 17 years together until his death in 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe Varva, Jr., Gordon “Buddy” Varva, Frank Varva and Richard Varva, husbands Millard Lindsey and Joe Vinyard.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Brenda and Michael Card of Oklahoma City and Donna and Allan Owens of Satellite Beach, Florida; grandchildren Jonathan Card and wife Alysha, Daniel Card and wife Melaney, Dr. Trevor Owens, Justin Owens and Dayna Owens; one great-granddaughter Audrey; and other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, any memorial contribution may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 420 W. Iowa Ave., Chickasha, OK 73018, the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/donate or any charity of your choice.

Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
