A private burial for Martha (Rodgers) Dickey Hunt, 79, of Chickasha, will take place at Hazel Dell Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date by the family.

She was born Martha Alice Rodgers on January 16, 1941 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Bert Gilbert Rodgers and Mary Louellen (Childress) Rodgers. She died on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She grew up and attended school in Amber.

On July 6, 1959, she married Harold “Buzz” Dickey and to this union her three children were born, Michael, Barbara and Penny.

Martha worked as the director of Chickasha Opportunity Workshop for over 25 years and was blessed to work there. She was a single mother and in her own words “raised her children as best she could.” She loved them through all life’s ups and downs. She was a faithful member of the Hope Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church for many years.

In 2005, Martha reconnected with her childhood sweetheart Kenneth Hunt and they were married on March 16, 2005 until his death in October of 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken Hunt, brothers Wayne and Wilburn Rodgers and sisters Bonnie Fagan and Bertha Blevins.

Survivors include her son Michael Dickey of Chickasha; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Roger Sumner of Chickasha; daughter Penny Romero of Chickasha; sisters Mary McCabe of Norman and Ruth Adkins of Oklahoma City; brother Paul Rodgers of Amber; grandchildren Shawn Sumner, Cody Sumner, Michael “Mikey” Romero, Liane Howell, Sara Ellis and Timothy Romero; several great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
