A memorial service for Marjorie Joyce Hobgood, 82, of Verden, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in the Verden First Baptist Church with Brother Troy Taylor officiating and Brother Lawrence Gresham assisting.
Marjorie Joyce Hobgood was born March 3, 1941 at home in Anadarko, Oklahoma the daughter of Finis Jerome Milam and Avis Voleta (Taylor) Milam. She passed from this life on Tuesday, March 8, 2023 in Verden, Oklahoma.
Joyce graduated from Verden High School in 1959 and soon began employment with Safeway Foods stores where she continued for over thirty years working in the meat department as a meat wrapper. In 1962, she married James “Jim” Russell Hobgood.
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and grandbabies and great-grandbabies. In her later years, she loved to bowl and square dance.
Joyce was a member of the Verden First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; sisters Sue O’Neil and Wanda Randle; brothers Ben Milam, Doc Milam, Floyd Milam, and Sam Milam; and grandchild Sheena Lynn Secrest.
Loved ones left to remember her are her daughter Tammy Cunningham of Verden; sons and daughter-in-law Alan Hobgood of Anadarko, and Mark and Jo D Hobgood of Anadarko; sister Verla Parker of Newcastle and brother and sister-in-law Rodney and Linda Milam of Yukon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
The service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
