Funeral Services for Gay Young, 61, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church with Pastors Phillip Mullins and Jon Bawden officiating.
Gay Young was born March 11, 1960 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Rick L. Young and Martha Ann (Floyd) Young. She died on August 9, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Gay came to Chickasha as a small child and grew up helping with the family ranching business in the Rush Springs area. She attended school at Friend and Amber High School, graduating in 1978.
She was employed with Walmart for forty years and had most recently been employed with Chickasha Public Schools as a secretary for Central Kitchen.
Gay committed her life to Jesus as a child, growing in her relationship with Him daily. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church her entire life, teaching Sunday school, helping with Vacation Bible School and working as a sponsor and cook at church camp. She loved the kids and enjoyed spending time with them and helping them through life. She loved elephants and loved to collect anything to do with elephants. She was also an avid reader.
Gay was preceded in death by her sister Sheila Baker and her mother Martha Young.
Survivors include her father, Rick Young of Chickasha; brother Rodney Young of Chickasha; nephews Jason Baker of Chickasha, Brandon Baker and wife Abby of Noble, and Clayton Baker of Slaughterville; dear friend Vonnie Davidson; and other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church Youth Department at 2414 State Highway 92, Chickasha, OK 73018.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
