Funeral services for Marie L. Dearden, 101, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Butler officiating.
Marie L. (Dommer) Dearden was born November 4, 1916 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Ida Dommer. She went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.
Marie grew up in Spencer, Wisconsin, one of nine children. She married John Leroy Dearden in Bowling Green, Ohio and later moved to Michigan.
She worked in physical therapy for 23 years, first at St. Luke’s Hospital in Michigan and later in 1957 when they moved to California she worked at St. Jude’s Hospital in Fullerton. She retired at the age of 70 years old, and a few years later in 1990, she moved from Garden Grove, California to Chickasha, Oklahoma to be near her family. Marie had a long, full life and lived by herself until she was 101. Every Saturday, she enjoyed going shopping and to lunch with her daughter and great-granddaughter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha and enjoyed her Sunday School class and going on the church trips. She used to sing in the Joy Choir and belonged to The Triple L Club. She loved her church family.
Marie had a card ministry and would send cards out for birthdays, special occasions, or to encourage. She was a woman of faith and was always in prayer for someone. She had a smile for anyone she came in contact with. She loved spending time with family and friends and when goodbyes were said, she always replied “Love You More”.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband John Dearden; son-in-law, Terry Mayrhofen; grandson, Jeffery Mayrhofen; great-grandson, John Paul Smallwood; five brothers, Orville, Harold, Ira, Milton, and Russell; and two sisters, Grace and Irene.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Mayrhofen of Chickasha; granddaughter, Tonya Loman and husband, Myron, of Chickasha; great-granddaughter, Misty Loman and her boyfriend, J.C., of Chickasha; sister, Norma Fauset; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Jackie Griffin, Bill and Pat Reeves, Bryan and Linda Linn; and other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be Thursday, May 24th starting at noon with family receiving friends at a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
