Graveside services for Marie Hector Morgan will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK with Reverend Scott Keneda officiating.
Marie Elene Hector-Morgan (McMinn), second daughter of Mack Duff and Willie Ada (McKnight) McMinn, was born August 10, 1924 in Sturgis, Mississippi. She grew up in Mississippi and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1942. On December 28, 1943 she married the love of her life, George Hector. He died in 1993 just a few months before their 50th wedding anniversary.
In 1948, they moved to Anadarko and resided there for fifteen years before relocating the family to Chickasha where they owned and operated Hector Flying Service. George and Marie were partners in business and life. George taught Marie to fly and she soloed soon after moving to Chickasha. For nearly twenty years Marie was the voice of “Chickasha Unicom” welcoming pilots with wind and traffic information. She was responsible for saving two pilots from impending disaster by her quick response on the radio.
Marie supported her four children in their many activities, was an excellent bridge player, enjoyed sewing for her home and making her daughters’ clothes. Many years she drove her convertible in the Anadarko Parade. She loved to shop, and did so with the speed of light, hunting for the ultimate bargain whether in a department store or on the streets of Mexico or New York City. Marie could grow anything. She grew flowers for friends, her home, and Garden Club. With the bounty of her vegetable garden and her hospitality there was always room at the family table for guests. She and George loved to dance and were beautiful together on the dance floor.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, UMW, Wedding Ring Class, Yet Set, and Red Hat Society. She was married twelve years to Wendell Morgan who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Ellen Pritchard and brother M. D. McMinn. Marie is survived by her sisters: Maxine Winfield and Martha Nell Leslie and brother Malcolm McMinn. Her children: Grace Dean and husband Don, Katherine Bean, Priscilla Donaghe and husband Larry, George (Buddy) Hector Jr. and wife Nancy. Grandchildren: Kimberly Campbell and husband Greg, Donnie Bean, George (Hank) Hector and wife Dorothy, Emily Godwin and husband Drew, Chance Donaghe and wife Suzi, Great-grandchildren: Hayden Campbell, Katie Campbell, Gracie Donaghe, Charles Donaghe, Trent Godwin, and Garrett Godwin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 420 W. Iowa, Chickasha, OK or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Services and interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, located in Anadarko, OK under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
