No services will be held for Maria G. Carpenter, 80, of Moore, previously of Chickasha, per her request. Her family will celebrate her life privately.
Maria G. Carpenter was born in Madrid, Spain on February 26, 1935, the daughter of Vincente and Isabel (Calero) Garcia. She died on February 2, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Maria grew up in Spain and came to the United States in 1961. She lived in various places and settled in San Diego, California for many years. She moved to the Chickasha area in 1995 and recently moved to Moore.
Maria liked to sew and was a skilled seamstress. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, William Brown, of Moore; daughter, Marisa Dunn and husband, Kendall, of Chickasha; granddaughters, Jessica Johnson and husband, Randall, and Nicole Moates; great-grandchildren, Saniia, LJ, Brooklyn, Damian and Camdyn; brother, Vincente Garcia, Jr.; sister, Marebel Garcia; best friend, Kathy Rodgers; nephew, Marcus; and other extended family and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
