The funeral service for Margaret Ann Walker will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

We are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother and dedicated wife, Margaret Ann Walker of Chickasha.  Margaret Ann Walker passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 12, 2024, at the age of 76.

Margaret was born on January 9, 1948, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Llewellyn Fuqua and Mary Elizabeth Fuqua (Matlock). She was the third of 6 children (Charles, Linda, Margaret, MaryKay, David, and Richard).

She spent her early years in Blackwell, Oklahoma and her teenage years in Rome, Georgia.  She moved to Duncan, Oklahoma her senior year and graduated from Duncan High.  She later moved to Cement, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life and eternal companion Kenneth Ray Walker.

Margaret and Kenneth were married on April 21,1967. They lived in Oklahoma City, OK; Okmulgee, OK; Wichita, KS; Cement, OK; Brownsville, TX; Cushing, OK, and finally settled in Chickasha, OK, where they have since resided.

They were blessed with 2 sons and 1 daughter.  Margaret filled her time with raising her family and managing the senior citizens center in Cement, OK.  After her children were raised, she returned to school and obtained her Nursing degree with a 4.0 GPA.  She loved nursing, and the people she cared for loved her.

During Margaret’s life she served in many church callings including: Primary President, Young Women’s President, visiting teacher, and Ward Pianist and Organist.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father Charles Fuqua, mother Mary Fuqua, sister Linda Perkes, brother-in-law Don Perkes, and sister-in-law Eileen Fuqua.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Walker; her children; Michael Walker (Sharon), David Walker (Rochelle), and Melissa Thornock (Monty); brother Charles Fuqua, sister MaryKay Fuqua Rucker (Gary), brother David Fuqua (Janice), and brother Richard Fuqua.  She is survived as well by her 15 grandchildren; Jeff Walker (Shelbie), Whitnee Crowder (Kasey), Amber Martin (Dylan), Jason Walker, Makenzie Child (Brandon), Ryan Thornock, Chandler Thornock (Katherine), Lauren Wilson (Camron), Zachary Walker, Abby Walker, Ethan Walker, Ammon Walker, Mary Walker, and Sara Walker; and 5 great-grandchildren: Liv Child, Rogue Child, Kannon Crowder, Kynlee Crowder, and Jett Walker.

Mom was sick off and on for the past many years.  There were many people who made a great difference during this time.  The family would like to thank the team at Choice Hospice for the care they have provided; their care and kindness made such a difference.  We would also like to thank the following family and friends for their caring tenderness during this time: The Scott Perkes family (Randi, Ace, Jessi, Joey) and Jim and Denise Gerlach.

A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Interment will be in the Big Creek of the Brethren Church Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home
